In its ongoing effort to expand programs and potential, Skyrocket 2008 will feature an evening session especially for high school girls. "We just decided to take the plunge," reported Skyrocket Director, Coach Doug Lucas. "And the next thing you know, the program was a 'go'!"
Four high school girls have already registered for the girls' evening clinic, which will meet simultaneous with the guys' clinic, but will feature specialized and unique coaching. "One key we had to overcome," explained Coach Lucas: "We had to bring in a 2nd specialty trainer." Once the program reached critical mass, Coach Lucas quickly gave the go-ahead for the 2nd trainer, Humberto Trejo. "We believe 'Beto' is the perfect choice for the job," Added Lucas. "Beto" was trained Mandyn Soccer School in Aguascalientes, Mexico. As a freshman playing for his college in the USA, he received the MVP award as a central defender. "I'll admit I'm partial to trying to feature player/coaches with a head for defense," explained Coach Lucas. "It takes a very special personality with a very smart head. Beto will not only help our evening girls program, but we'll also mix him in with our guys program too (swapping Coach Gidman part of the time). That should really provide some encouragement for the members of the team that we're training as top-quality defenders." The good news is -- players of all ages and both genders will be able to profit from Coach Gonzales' presence, since he'll also be participating in the morning session for elementary and middle schoolers too. Skyrocket Soccer 2008 is scheduled for June 16-20, with morning sessions for elementary and middle, and evening sessions for high schoolers. Register online today at SkyrocketSoccer.com |
